Membership
The York Anglo-Scandinavian Society (YASS) brings together people in the York area with a common interest in Scandinavia.
If you are Scandinavian, of Scandinavian descent, have been to one of the Scandinavian countries, studied a Nordic language, have family or friends there, or simply want to become more involved in Scandinavian and Nordic life, language, culture or history, come to one of our events or contact us about joining YASS.
YASS Members have access to:

A monthly programme of meetings, presentations, social gatherings and events.

Priority booking at limited events, such as the annual Sankta Lucia in York Minster.

Conversation groups in Scandinavian languages.

A small but growing library of language DVDs and books.

The Annual General Meeting, which is normally held in April each year.
By joining YASS you will also be supporting the work done by the Confederation of Scandinavian Societies in the UK (CoScan), including the CoScan Trust Fund.
Annual membership rates for 2026/27

Single membership: £20
For one adult member.

Joint membership: £30
For two adults at the same address, or one adult plus their children.

Family membership: £35
For two adults and their children at the same address.

Student / Under 25 membership: £10
For anyone under 25, or students with a valid student ID.

Children can be included up to the age of 25. If children are included in your membership, please add their age range on the membership form so we can keep our records up to date.
How to join YASS
Complete the online membership form below and choose the membership option that applies to you. Payment should then be made separately. You can make a one-off bank transfer or set up a recurring Standing Order using the following details:

Please use your name as the payment reference so we can match your payment to your membership form.
